Sonia Mehta, MD, MBA
President and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Mehta is a Board Certified Internist with more than 15 years of inpatient/outpatient clinical and administrative experience. For the past five years, Dr. Mehta has served Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois, as both Executive Medical Director of its Immediate Care Centers and Occupational Health & Wellness Programs and as Chief of Ambulatory Services. During her tenure with Northwest Community Hospital, she managed four centers with patient volumes of more than 80,000 and a team of more than 35 providers. Prior to joining Northwest Community Hospital in 2007, Dr. Mehta was an Acute Care/Occupational Health Physician with Alexian Brothers Immediate Care Centers and Alexian Brothers Occupational Health Clinics (2004 to 2007) and Condell Acute Care Centers (2001 to 2004) in locations throughout Illinois. Between 1996 and 2001, she served Victory Medical Center/Ministry Health Care in Stanley, Wisconsin as Medical Director of ER/Urgent Care Services, Local EMS System, Primary Care Practice and Nursing Homes. Dr. Mehta attended medical school at NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois and did one year of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. In addition, she holds an Executive MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois. Sonia and her husband Chirag, an IT consultant, are the parents of two sons.
Keith Jankuski, PT, MTC, MBA
Chief Operations Officer
Keith Jankuski, PT, MTC, MBA previously served as the Vice President of Operations for the HSHS Medical Group. Prior to joining the group, Keith served for more than ten years as the Vice President of Support Services for Prevea Health in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Keith holds an MBA from Kellett School of Business, an MTC from Flagler University, St. Augustine, FL, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse. Keith is certified in Lean Process Improvement from the University of Michigan, 2005. He resides in Chatham with his wife Sherry, and three daughters.

Chief Financial Officer
Keith A. Moore, FHFMA previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Duke University’s Affiliated Physicians. Prior to that, Keith served as a Physician Practice Manger at Dixon-Hughes, PLLC and as Chief Financial Officer for Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. Keith holds an MBA from University of San Diego and a Master of Public Health degree in Health Services Administration from the Graduate School of Public Health, San Diego State University.
Becky Puclik, Ed. M., SPHR
Chief People Officer
Becky Puclik, Ed. M., SPHR, brings over
20 years of Human Resource experience in the health care industry to the
HSHS Medical Group. Becky received her bachelor’s degree in
management from the University of Illinois in Springfield and a Master
of Education degree in human resource development from the University of
Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Additionally, Becky is credentialed as a
Senior Professional Human Resources with the HR Certification
Institute. Prior to joining the Medical Group, Becky worked in various
managerial roles with a health system in the Springfield, Illinois area.
Jonna Herring, RN
Executive Director, Quality and Performance Improvement
Jonna Herring, RN has previously served
as Chief Operating Officer of the Prairie Diagnostic Center in
Springfield, Illinois, and in various leadership capacities at St.
John’s Hospital in Springfield, including Cardiovascular Services
Program Director, Information System and Decision Support Analyst and
Assistant Director of Surgical Services. Jonna attended MacMurray
College and Augustana College and is a graduate of Moline Lutheran
Hospital School for Nurses in Moline, Illinois. She is a member of the
National Association for Healthcare Quality.
Kelly Ford, MBA
Director of Medical Staff Affairs
Kelly Ford, MBA previously served eleven years as the Director of Physician Recruitment at Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri, where she successfully launched a new open-heart program and Electronic ICU. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bradley University in Peoria and an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis.

Kelly Hazenfield, MBA previously served Hospital Sisters Health System as Community Relations Director at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. Prior to joining HSHS in 2006, Kelly served as the Vice President for the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce in Decatur, as well as Marketing Manager for Detroit Newspaper Partnership in Detroit and AMC Networks in Chicago. She holds an MBA from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
Peter Mader, MSM
Director, Business Development
Peter Mader, MSM brings to the HSHS Medical Group 37 years of experience in multi-site health care experience and leadership. Peter earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Population Dynamics from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay and his Master of Science degree in management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. Prior to joining the group, Peter worked for Prevea Health as the Senior Director of Regional and Diagnostic Services.
Sylvia Rogers
Director, Patient Financial Services
With more than 20 years of experience in health care management, Sylvia brings billing, collection and
compliance expertise to her role as
Director of Patient Financial Services. She comes to the Medical Group from the University of Michigan Health
Systems, Ann Arbor, Michigan where she served in various managerial roles. Sylvia holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and is a member of the Medical Group Management Association.
Craig Miller, MHA, FACHE
Director of Operations, Springfield/Referral Division
Craig Miller previously served as Executive Director for River View Surgery Center and Progressive Cancer Care in Marion, Indiana. River View is a joint-venture, multi-specialty, ambulatory surgery center and Progressive Cancer Care is a joint venture outpatient cancer center. Craig holds a MHA from Indiana University and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Walter Birch, MBA
Director of Operations, Central Illinois Division
Walter Birch, MBA brings extensive medical group and management experience to CID. Prior to joining the Group, Walter served as Administrative Director at FirstHealth of the Carolinas, in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Walter received a bachelor's degree in economics from University of Virginia and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
James Schaefer, MSHA, CPA
Director of Operations, Southern Illinois Division
James brings over 20 years of health care experience to the Medical Group. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Medical Group Management Association. Prior to joining the Group, Jim served as Executive Director at Premier Health Group in Tupelo, Mississippi. Jim received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from University of Wisconsin, and a master’s of science degree in healthcare administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Linda Dutter-Tio, MBA
Director of Operations, Western Wisconsin Division
Linda Dutter-Tio, MBA served as practice manager for Family Health Associates for three years before FHA joined the HSHS Medical Group. She maintains this role as well as functioning as the Director of Operations for the division. Linda received both her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and her MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.
W. Joey Townsend, MD
Medical Director, Springfield/Referral Division
A Board Certified Internist, Dr. Townsend previously served as the Medical Director for Carlinville Area Hospital Emergency Room and is currently a full time physician at Priority Care. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield, IL and Columbia University in New York, NY. Dr. Townsend is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Illinois State Medical Society, National Medical Association and Sangamon County Medical Society.
James Bock, MD
Medical Director, Central Illinois Division
Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Bock received his education and completed residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford. Dr. Bock has been serving the health care needs of the Decatur area community for over twenty years. He now practices at St. Mary’s Family Medicine - Blue Mound. Dr. Bock is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society.
Shelly S. Harkins, MD
Medical Director, Southern Illinois Division
Dr. Harkins studied at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine training at ECU’s Pitt County Memorial Hospital where she received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award, the Excellence in Geriatrics Award, the Excellence in Rural Medicine Award and Outstanding OB Care Award. Serving in the US Air Force, she received The Meritorious Service Medal for her contribution to academic medicine and the Air Force Achievement Medal for a global humanitarian mission. She is founder and chief physician of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Inpatient Services. In 2007, Dr. Harkins was honored as one of East Carolina University’s “Top 100 Incredible Women” to celebrate the University’s bicentennial. She has recently acquired the Certificate of Added Qualification in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
Kristie Gering, MD
Medical Director, Western Wisconsin Division
Dr. Gering graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of South Dakota
School of Medicine. She completed her training with the Eau Claire
Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison
Medical School. Dr. Gering has practiced for the last twelve years at
Family Health Associates in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She is a member
of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Medical
Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
