Melinda Clark


Chief Executive Officer

Melinda Clark joined HSHS in 2010 after serving as the President and CEO of the Texas Region of St. Joseph Health System in Orange, CA. Prior to joining SJHS in 2007, she served for 12 years in the SSM Health Care System in various leadership positions, including President of DePaul Health Center, President of SSM Rehab, and Vice President of Operations, SSM Rehabilitation Institute. Melinda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Indiana University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University in California.

Loren Hughes

, MD
President
Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Loren Hughes studied at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee where he served as the Chief Resident. Before accepting the role of President at HSHS Medical Group, he was the Medical Director for the Southern Division and practiced at HSHS Medical Group Family and Internal Medicine - Collinsville.

Mary Embertson


Chief Financial Officer
Mary Embertson brings to HSHS Medical Group more than 25 years of experience in health care finance. Her experience includes auditing, consulting and over 15 years as a hospital or regional health care CFO. Mary is a C.P.A. and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Whitewater and her Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jonna Herring

, RN
Executive Director, Quality and Performance Improvement

Jonna Herring, RN has previously served as Chief Operating Officer of the Prairie Diagnostic Center in Springfield, Illinois, and in various leadership capacities at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, including Cardiovascular Services Program Director, Information System and Decision Support Analyst and Assistant Director of Surgical Services. Jonna attended MacMurray College and Augustana College and is a graduate of Moline Lutheran Hospital School for Nurses in Moline, Illinois. She is a member of the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

Kelly Ford

Executive Director of Operations, Inpatient Services
Kelly Ford, MBA previously served eleven years as the Director of Physician Recruitment at Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri, where she successfully launched a new open-heart program and Electronic ICU. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bradley University in Peoria and an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis.

James Schaefer

Executive Director of Operations, Central Illinois Division

Jim Schaefer brings more than 20 years of health care experience to the medical group. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Medical Group Management Association. Prior to joining the group, Jim served as Executive Director at Premier Health Group in Tupelo, Mississippi. Jim received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from University of Wisconsin, and a Master’s of Science degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

James Bock

, MD
Medical Director, Central Illinois Division

Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. James Bock received his education and completed residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford. Dr. Bock has been serving the health care needs of the Decatur area community since 1990. Dr. Bock is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society.

Karen Gleave

Executive Director of Operations, Southern Illinois Division

Karen Gleave joined HSHS in 2013 following positions in Chicago, Illinois where she was the market VP of Physician Services for Vanguard Health System and Warsaw, IN where she was the VP of Physician Services for Community Health System. Her experience ranges from Emergency/Trauma Nursing to management of a trauma center, Director of Occupational Health programs and development of Student Health Centers. Karen received her BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University and her MPA from Indiana University.

Linda Dutter-Tio

, MBA
Director of Operations, Western Wisconsin Division

Linda Dutter-Tio, MBA served as practice manager for Family Health Associates for three years before FHA joined the HSHS Medical Group. She maintains this role as well as functioning as the Director of Operations for the division. Linda received both her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and her Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.

Vincent Noel


Director of Business Development
Vince Noel joined HSHS in 2010 and brings more than 12 years’ experience in leadership, strategy and development. Prior to joining HSHS, Vince served as a Specialty Sales Executive for Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals and as Vice-President, Sales and Investments for JP Morgan Chase in Springfield. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.

Craig Brace

Director of Planning, Marketing and Communications

Craig Brace brings more than 30 years of experience in health care management, strategic planning, business development and marketing communications to the role. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Baptist University and is board certified in health care management by the American College of Healthcare Executives. Brace is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Paulette Dove

, JD
Staff Attorney

Paulette received her BA in English from State University of New York at Albany and her JD from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the Group, Ms. Dove was partner at Springfield law firm Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes. She is an appointee to the Illinois Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee and a member of the Illinois State and Sangamon County Bar Associations.
