|(Springfield) - Following an extensive nationwide search, HSHS Medical Group has selected an internal candidate to serve as President. Loren Hughes, MD will begin his new role effective December 9, 2013. Dr. Hughes currently serves as the Southern Illinois Division’s Medical Director, and until recently, he practiced family medicine at HSHS Medical Group Family & Internal Medicine Collinsville. He has been with HSHS Medical Group since July 2011.
“While Dr. Hughes has a clear understanding of HSHS Medical Group’s history, what I’m most excited about is his commitment to our future,” said Melinda Clark, chief executive officer. “He has demonstrated success with our dyad leadership model and has been highly effective in building relationships in his division.”
Prior to joining the Collinsville practice, Dr. Hughes served as medical director of the emergency department and full-time staff physician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was also medical director and full-time emergency department physician St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. In addition, he worked for four years at a community clinic in North Carolina before returning to Illinois.

He is in a great position to relate to physicians because he understands the front line both as a family medicine physician and an emergency department doctor,” said Anthony Truong, DO, HSHS Medical Group Family Medicine O’Fallon. “I anticipate he will do a stellar job as president because he can solve problems without hesitation. It was obvious upon meeting him that he’s dedicated to helping patients and the community.”
Dr. Hughes attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is board-certified in family medicine and licensed in both Illinois and Missouri. He and his wife Anne have two grown children.

|(Chippewa Falls) – HSHS Medical Group Family Health Associates recently earned a 2013 Guardian of Excellence Award from Press Ganey, a national performance improvement firm.
The Guardian of Excellence recognizes health care providers whose patient satisfaction scores are at the 95 percentile or above for a 12-month period. This achievement is one earned by fewer than 5 percent of all health care providers.
