HSHS Medical Group’s newest Health Today episode features Deepthi Seekuri Manoj, MD, a pediatrician at HSHS Medical Group Pediatrics in Decatur. According to Dr. Seekuri, “I strongly believe that today’s healthy children are the strong pillars of tomorrow’s healthy community. That’s what brings me so much joy as a pediatrician. I see them when they are born and they develop their personalities and achieve their milestones and then grow into adulthood.”
Dr. Seekuri says that pediatrics is a specialty where you are trained exclusively for three years to provide care for kids from the day they are born to twenty-one years of age. “Kids are so much fun but they can’t talk for themselves or express themselves. I wanted to become an advocate for them and serve their health issues and problems as they grow.”
Dr. Seekuri earned her medical degree from Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Narketpally - AP, India. She completed her pediatric residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center - Mount Sinai Services in Elmhurst, NY. Dr. Seekuri is a member of the American Academy of Pediatricians.
In this episode of Health Today, Dr. Seekuri explains, “In pediatrics we treat not only the patient but the whole family. We build a bond and trust with the patient and the patient’s family. This is the most important part of our care. I’m a mother so I always put myself in the mother’s shoes and think about what she would want to know or learn.”
Dr. Seekuri and her team love the opportunity to deliver Patient-First Care. “When patients and families come to the office they find a welcoming staff in a very friendly atmosphere. We are kid friendly and have a doll house in our waiting area. This carries over into the treatment rooms, too with exam tables that look like fire engines and school buses. It’s very attractive and welcoming for the kids.”
