HSHS Medical Group is pleased to announce Jacob Kitchener, MD, interventional and vascular neurologist, will be joining the team of providers at HSHS Medical Group Neuroscience Specialty Clinic, located at 1770 E. Lake Shore Dr., Suite LL1, Decatur, IL 62521. Dr. Kitchener joins Naim Khoury, MD. MS., who also offers vascular neurology care to the Decatur community. Dr. Kitchener currently practices at HSHS Neuroscience Center in Springfield and Litchfield.

Dr. Kitchener earned his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in Rootstown, OH. He completed his neurology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, his interventional & vascular neurology fellowships at St. Louis University and his clinical neurophysiology fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Kitchener is board certified in vascular neurology, clinical neurophysiology and neurocritical care.
 
As a vascular and interventional neurologist, Dr. Kitchener’s scope of practice includes:
 

  • Acute evaluation and medical management of Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attach (TIA)

  • Acute endovascular treatment of Ischemic Stroke (Mechanical Thrombectomy)

  • Secondary Stroke prevention:

  • Intracerebral and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

  • Ruptured Intracranial Aneurysms endovascular management

  • Outpatient evaluation, counseling and associated endovascular management

  • Carotid Artery Stenting

  • Refractory Epistaxis endovascular management

  • Head and Neck Tumor Embolization
